How Big Are the Planets?

Tammy McDaniel/Upper ES

Session 7/Week 2

The Heroes discovered just how big (or small) the planets

are this week. They compared them to the size of Earth

and the Sun. They also, with a scaled-down approach,

compared each planet’s distance from the sun.

This, alongside learning about Jupiter’s moon, Europa, and

scientists’ belief that this icy moon may support primitive

life forms, made for an interesting Astronomy week!

Next week, the Heroes move on to new discoveries about

light years, the life cycle of a star, and Black Holes!

They are realizing there is so much to learn about this wonderful

universe we live in. There have been challenges and

bumps in the road, but our Heroes know these are

opportunities to learn and grow.

I would be amiss if I did not share the wonderful time we

had last Friday with water balloons, playing kickball, and

having banana splits. The Heroes worked hard all week to

earn the points necessary for this Fun Friday to happen.

And yes, I got wet!

How Big Are the Planets?Having fun
