Who we are . . .

  • Sarah Fagerburg

Sarah is a mother of nine children and has seen just about everything in education while raising her children. She has homeschooled, sent her children to public school and to a lottery school but never felt like she was providing the best possible option for her children. Then she discovered Acton Academy and since there wasn’t one in the Tri-Cities she decided to open her own.

A graduate of Brigham Young University, she has extensive volunteer experience within her church and the community including volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, facilitating addiction recovery meetings, and sign language interpreting for her deaf friends.

  • Kurt Fagerburg

Kurt is Sarah’s husband. He listened to Acton Academy founder Jeff Sandefer’s 2023 interview with Jordan Peterson and shared it with Sarah - who was recovering from surgery at the time.

A native of Kingsport, Kurt is also a graduate of Brigham Young University and received an MBA from ETSU. Kurt has spent many years working in technology as a consultant and a solutions architect.

Kurt has worked with Sarah facilitating weekly addiction recovery meetings and has also served in various leadership positions both in his church and professionally.

  • Tim Miller

Tim is Sarah’s dad. He has worked as an entrepreneur and contractor for many years. If it’s real world experience, he’s probably got it. And if it’s broken he can probably fix it. Tim was also intrigued by Acton’s education model and eager to help make it happen for his grandchildren. He brings a wealth of real world experience and curiosity to any conversation.

Tim has also actively served in the community and in his church to help the underserved and under-privileged.
