About Our Campus

Acton Academy Johnson City is a learner-driven K–12 private school in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee, designed to support independence, creativity, and deep learning. Our campus features flexible learning spaces that encourage focus, collaboration, and student ownership.

We serve learners at different stages of development. Children ages 4–5 participate through our Homeschool Enrichment Studio, where families remain the primary educators and learners engage in intentional, developmentally appropriate experiences. Learners ages 5–14 are eligible for full enrollment in our Spark, Discovery, and Adventure Studios as part of our MSA-accredited private school program. Our LaunchPad Studio for high school learners (ages 15–18) is planned to open in 2027.

Learning on campus is active and purposeful. Our guides use Socratic discussions, mastery-based learning, modern technology, and hands-on quests to connect academic growth with real-world application. Learners take responsibility for their work while building strong thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Our quest-based learning includes experiences in science, mathematics, history, entrepreneurship, robotics, art, music, theatre, and gardening, with the arts woven naturally into daily campus life. This integrated approach helps learners grow academically while developing confidence, character, and leadership.

Acton Academy Johnson City offers a learner-centered private school environment where young people learn to think critically, solve real-world problems, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our Homeschool Enrichment Studio (age 4-5 and toilet independent) is a part-time offering in the Spark Montessori environment. Parents remain responsible for the education of the child. We provide a part-time enrichment program either MWF or TTHF.

Our Spark program (Ages 5 - 8) is a Montessori Studio, complete with the Montessori environments - Math, Language, Sensorial, and Practical Life, combined with science experiments and geography.

Our Discovery program (Ages 7-13) includes Socratic discussions, hands-on Quests, and enrichment opportunities like gardening, art, music, theater, entrepreneurship, and science projects.

Coming in 2026, our Adventure Program (ages 11-14) will also include apprenticeships and internships in areas the learners are passionate about.

In 2027 or 2028, we will open our Launch Pad (ages 14-18), which prepares young people for their Next Great Adventure, whether that is starting their own business, going to trade school, or an Ivy League college education if that is where their passion takes them.

With a blend of the arts and innovative learning, Acton Academy Johnson City is a place where young people learn to think critically, solve real-world problems, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
